How reliable is Airstream Wireless Service?

The technologies we use have proved to be extremely reliable, and we are confident that you will be happy with its performance. However, no connection, wireless or wired, is immune to unforeseen disruptions caused by weather, careless workmen or other factors outside our control. Please bear this in mind.

How fast is Airstream Wireless Service?
At least EIGHT times faster than your typical rural dial up – you are looking at speeds of faster than 256 kilobit/s with very low latency (lag), making the Airstream Wireless Service a great alternative for fast Internet access. It beats dial-up hands down for convenience and performance.

What are the settings for Airstream Wireless Service?
Our installation technician will configure the wireless router with the right settings to log on to Airstream Wireless service. After that, you are ready to go.

Do I need to run Antivirus and/or a Firewall with Airstream wireless?
Airstream Networks protect Airstream Wireless customers from dangerous viruses that circulate on the Internet in a variety of ways however it is not always possible to catch everything.

Will electric fences affect the service?
No. Electric fences only affect wired networks so you will never hear clicking through your SIP phone, wont loose faxes through Airstream etc.

What are the terms and conditions of my 12 month contract?
We no longer have term contracts.

Email settings are:
  • Incoming mail server (POP3/IMAP): mail.airstream.net.nz
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.airstream.net.nz
  • Login with your email address and password
The wireless router should assign the DNS server automatically, but if you need to do it manually, use these settings:
  • Primary: 203.114.188.4
  • Secondary: 203.114.188.5
